AGREED REPORT
Garrett Donnery, director of Synergy Golf attended the meeting and presented a written report. In relation to revenue income, he noted that green fees and shop income are ahead of budget. The JMC accepted his proposal to run a campaign to fill the small number of membership vacancies by offering a summer membership package.
The course report by Kevin O’Connor highlighted improvements, compliments received on the course maintenance and plans being considered for further improvements. The report drew attention to the issue of sand compaction over recent weekends after heavy rain. A contingency plan is being considered, including its additional cost, to have available on occasions when the raking of bunkers on Friday morning is negated by heavy rainfall later in the day.
23 of the 36 tee boxes are now sponsored. There are 22 in the Lotto/EuroMillions syndicate which closes on 24 June.
The Captains’ reports included the large number of members who took part in the First of the summer evenings golf competition on 05 May and the success of the ladies get into golf programme being run in the club.
Work is due to start immediately, weather permitting, on lowering the height of a number of the evergreen trees at the first green.
A number of health and safety issues were discussed. In relation to one issue, arrangements were made for the matter to be followed up the next day.
Work on a strategic plan for the club for 2022-2026, led by Vice-Captain Ken O’Brien, is nearing completion. The draft plan has seven headings: 1 Finance & Risk Management /Compliance. 2 Governance and Management. 3 Members. 4 The course. 5 Promotion of Golf in the Club. 6 Clubhouse & Facilities. 7 Marketing.
The June meeting will be held on Tuesday 21 June. A special JMC meeting with be held on Tuesday 31 May at 8.30pm.
