LATEST JMC REPORT

< Back to news

Two new members, Ger Eyres O’Brien and Elaine Buckley, were co-opted on to the JMC and welcomed at the meeting.

Garrett Donnery, director of Synergy Golf Ltd, attended the meeting and gave a report on all aspects of his company’s work with the club since the February JMC meeting.

The Hon. Treasurer (Dominic Holmes) briefed the meeting on the membership renewal. He stated that taking into account all the difficulties and strains arising from Covid-19, membership renewal in the club was very encouraging.

The meeting decided to immediately recruit a fifth course staff member. The new staff member will be employed until the end of Autumn.

The JMC welcomed the allocation of a grant of €12,400 under the Golf Ireland resilience grant. A sub-committee was set up to guide the club in compliance with Golf Ireland conditions of approval. Members of the sub-committee are: Dominic Holmes (convenor), Anne Connellan, Pat Mahon, P.J. Gannon.

The club’s constitution is currently being reviewed by a sub-committee. Golf Ireland has promised to provide a template constitution soon that will be suitable and helpful for all clubs.

The meeting agreed to a purchase order system under which purchase orders will require Hon. Treasurer approval and such purchases must be only for items provided for in the current year’s budget.

The meeting thanked and complimented the members of the Ladies’ Club, and in particular, Ann Cribben and Lady Captain Eileen O’Toole, for the flower beds upgrade already carried out and the additional flower baskets and planter containers due for arrival shortly.

Members expressed the hope that the club will be open for golf and ‘busy as a bee’ by the time of the April JMC meeting on 20th April.
