MESSAGE FROM THE CAPTAINS 22.07.21

BY Kilcock Golf Club July 22, 2021

Our next fun team event is on Thursday 29th July as promised. This is a 4 person scramble and Mick Cronin has kindly drawn up the Terms for the Competition. We had 80 people at the last event and look forward to seeing as many as possible and in particular new members who joined us in the last 18 months.

The Tee time starts from 4pm and will be available to book on BRS  on Thursday 22nd July at 8pm.

Delighted to see the great uptake in the Junior Camp that Greg is running from the 27th July. These are all new to our club and we understand that there will be a treat of burgers and chips for them on the last day of camp.

The Town & District Cup is planned for 12th Aug. Please give details in the pro shop of your team and what district they represent.

MESSAGE FROM THE CAPTAINS 15.7.21

BY Kilcock Golf Club July 15, 2021

We held a four-ball scramble over 12 holes in the club on Thursday 8th July, starting at 4 pm and ending at 10 pm as the last golfers came off course. This was a fun evening with our members getting to meet other club members and, in particular, those who have only joined us in the last 18 months or so.

Glen from Rye River provided us with scrumptious sandwiches, which everyone enjoyed with a cup of tea afterward.

The winners were Ciaran O Connell, Gary Gartland, Ian O Leary and Liam Nolan.

In 2nd place were Paul Fitzpatrick, Philip Mc Crory, John Whittaker, and Daryl Watters.

Our next fun team event is on Thursday 29th July, so please put this in your diary.

The Rayfus Cup Competition is being played this Sunday 18th July in Trim, Co Meath Golf Club. We have 3 teams (12 couples) playing, and the Ladies and Men’s Committee are paying for this. A special word of thanks to Mary Fitzmaurice, who has looked after this event.

Finally, offers are invited to the pro shop from members willing to take charge of a six-member team from their area in the club’s own ‘Towns & District Cup’, which we hope to hold in August.

In the Junior Cup Kilcock lost out to Ardee

Upcoming Interclub Matches
Good luck to Kilcock in the Pierce Purcell against Headfort and also to our Irish Mixed Foursomes who play Co. Meath in the 2nd round this weekend

Volunteers

We are looking for some more volunteers to give Larry Gough and the rest of his volunteers a couple of hours of a Thursday to do a few jobs around the course. They have done a lot of great work around the course since the covid-19 restrictions were eased. Because of the covid-19 restrictions, they are way behind.

Regards and thanks.

CAPTAINS’ WEEKLY CHECK-IN

Monday 21st June Mid Summers day was a great success. The Tee time from 4pm was fully booked up and the last golfers exited the course at 10pm. Tommy and I were delighted with the large number of members who participated. The marquee was full of buzz and laughter as the golfers enjoyed tea/ coffee and sandwiches when they finished the 12 hole golf competition.
Special thanks to Shona in Rye River for the fabulous sandwiches provided for the refreshments. Members were very impressed with them.
Our next team event will be held on Thursday 8th July. Please note this in your diary and we will have more information next week.
The 8th July is also the evening when we will launch, on behalf of the club, Kilcock Golf Club’s 2021 FUNDRAISER, the sale of Two Ball Green Fees. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to fund the full sanding of the course in October and also to assist with funding the new sewerage system for the club.

MESSAGE FROM THE CAPTAINS 3.06.21

BY Kilcock Golf Club June 3, 2021

As Captains, we had a busy week since our last update in the club newsletter. Sunday and Monday evenings were devoted to meeting and greeting recent new members. The new members were taken out for 9 holes of golf by existing club members, including 2017 Lady Captain Frances Fagan and 2020 men’s Captain David Bohan.

Refreshments were served to the new members, and all seemed very pleased with the warm welcome and their experience to date in the club. Both evenings were a great success. The new members were happy to pose for the Liffey Champion photographer whom we asked to be on hand to record the occasion. These photos and write up we prepared for publication in the newspaper will hopefully help to promote Kilcock as an attractive and welcoming golf club.

Golf in the club on mid-summer’s day- Monday, 21st June – will be a 4-person team and no entry fee. The timesheet for this event opens on 10th June and full details will be in next week’s newsletter.

CAPTAINS’ CHECK-IN

BY Kilcock Golf Club May 20, 2021

Many of our weekly messages to members have been about each member of the club protecting herself/himself during these very difficult Covid-19 times. We again encourage best practice and compliance with regulations when present at the club and, indeed, at all times.

This week, however, we would like to expand the protect and care encouragement message to include our course. A golf course always needs good care from its members. We want to highlight how members carrying and using their own individual sandbag (club will supply the sand) can greatly help fairways recover from divot damage.

If you want a free sandbag, just ask in the pro shop. There are approximately 100 bags available to members free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, we would ask every member to try and repair one more pitch mark as well as their own on each green. With the increase in numbers on the course each week, this will help to keep the putting surfaces in the best possible condition for all of our members.
