This year we intend to put a lot more emphasis on the Juvenile section. With this in mind we propose:
1. Monthly 9 hole competition
Juveniles can enter the monthly competition as many times as they wish. The fee will be €1 for each card submitted and the best card during the month will count.
This will give juveniles an opportunity to use results from playing with parents towards the competition.
It is proposed that these competitions will commence from 1st April. The juvenile must play from the 150-metre mark on the par 4’s and the 200-metre mark for the par 5’s for all holes and from the 1st cut of fairway on the par 3’s.
Please try to get 3 nine-hole cards submitted during March so that we can allocate a handicap.
2. Weekly competitions
We will endeavour to organise weekly competitions commencing in April. These will take the format of singles stableford, team scrambles and parent/child competitions. They will be over 6 or 9 holes depending on the experience of the juvenile.
The success of this will depend on getting sufficient parents to go around with the juveniles as under the rules of the club they must be accompanied at all times on the course.
After the success of last years Seniors/Juniors competition we are going to hold it again in August. This will be a fourball scramble competition consisting of two seniors and two juniors/juveniles (depending on handicap).
The cost will be advised in due course and will include dinner immediately after the event and prizes. This was an excellent event last year enjoyed by all who attended.
All those interested and available should contact Pat Mahon (087/6365668).
